G12 Conference Session 13: 12 Values of G12 (cont’d), Ps Khong

G12 Conference Session 13: 12 Values of G12 (cont’d), Ps Khong
Reporter: Sharon Thien

Ps Khong began by sharing about his mission trip experience to Mongolia during his earlier days. At that time, God said “Go” and he went. The temperature was at a freezing –40 degrees Celsius and there was no power supply. He highlighted that Mongolians had the spirit of conquest when they conquered China, and with the same spirit of conquest, they can conquer vast territories for the kingdom of God when redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Ps Khong then invited a pastor couple to share about how they used G12 and how their church became the biggest church in Mongolia. Thereafter, Ps Cesar prayed for them.

Ps Khong went on to list the 12 Values of the G12:

1. Revelation of the Cross – Gal 6:14
There is no obstacle in our lives that cannot be overcome by the power of the cross.
2. Discipleship – Matt 28:19, 20, Matt 10:37
It is about building strong & deep relationships.
3. Family & Fathering – 1 Cor 4:15-17
It is about authenticity and relationships.
4. Mothering – The release of women
Men & women rising up together & fulfilling the purposes of God.
5. Strengthening the Home – 1 Tim 3:5
6. Three-Generational Ministry – Exo 3:15

Ps Khong said that he had spoken much about the values of the G12 (in the 4th G12 Int’l Conference) but he wanted to add on and highlighted that his main point for this session was yet to come.
The G12 ministry is based on three-generational ministry, which ensures perpetuity, safety and legacy.

Perpetuity – The Importance of propagation

In the history of Israel, when God revealed Himself, He spoke, “I am God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob”. God first spoke this to Moses. We want to leave behind not just disciples but disciple-makers; not just 12 but 144. The three-generational ministry is the key to multiplication.

Safety – The Importance of the Patriarch

Nobody taught us how to become a father when we had children. But when we have grandchildren, we can mentor our children how to parent our grandchildren. He explained that when the Senior Pastor rises up as a patriarch, he will rule the church with the heart of a father. He shared about how he started the cell-church. He said that the church must be led by one anointed man of God. One man will make the decisions as opposed to layers of committee members who will trap one another & frustrate the plans of God. He illustrated that God picked one man – Abraham, Moses, David, Elijah, Peter & Paul to specific purposes. He acknowledged that he would have trusted leaders who would provide feedback and counsel but eventually, he would make the final decision.

Legacy – The Importance of Loyalty

Ps Khong assured that he was sharing this not because he was an egotistical maniac. But he highlighted the importance of loyalty and submission. Disloyalty is the greatest sin of the end times.

2 Tim 3:1-4

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—

We are called to be loyal to our spiritual fathers.

Jos 1:16-18

16 Then they answered Joshua, "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17 Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God be with you as he was with Moses. 18 Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey your words, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!"

Heb 13:17 – We are to obey, not just respect our leaders.

17Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Ps Khong said that we ought to look for mighty & loyal men to do the work of God. He added that we would never know whether a man is loyal or not until he is tested and that while we may disagree with our leaders, we must still make the choice to obey. He shared his story about an incident when he disagreed with his seminary Pastor when he was in Dallas Theological College. But despite of that, he supported his Pastor and did not utter a single word against him. He knew that his job was to help his Pastor succeed and to be loyal to the man whom God had set over him.

Finally, Ps Khong reiterated that he gave up his cell-church concept for the G12 vision as he would rather be in a troop that is winning the battle than be a general in a losing battle.
